Insurance Q&As

Are vision insurance and medical insurance basically the same thing?

No. Vision insurance and medical insurance are not the same. Normally medical insurance is set up to protect you from high medical bills in case of unexpected eye injuries or disease. Vision insurance plans are designed for things like back-to-school eye exams, updating prescription eyewear year to year, and other routine vision-related services at a reduced cost.

Does insurance cover LASIK?

In most cases, LASIK is considered an elective procedure. This means that most insurance plans won’t cover it. However, there are some exceptions in which your insurance may agree to cover it either entirely or partially. Speak to our eye care team if you’re interested in LASIK and want to explore your coverage for it.
